Event Host: SASVEMP The Southern African Society for Veterinary Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine (SASVEPM) was formed in 2000 as an African equivalent to the United Kingdom’s Society for Veterinary Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine (SVEPM). Our mission is to advance veterinary epidemiology and preventive medicine in Southern Africa, promote information sharing between animal health professionals, and build regional capacity in epidemiology. Today, our diverse membership exceeds two thousand veterinary and para-veterinary professionals from across the African continent and beyond. Our members contribute expertise from both state and private sectors, industry, non-governmental and intergovernmental organisations, academic institutions, and research groups. SASVEPM serves as a forum to share knowledge, experience, and methodologies applicable to Southern Africa through various annual online and in person events. These include webinars, epidemiology field training sessions and workshops designed to equip members with the knowledge and skills required to address the distinctive challenges and circumstances complicating the management of infectious diseases in Africa and necessitate bespoke approaches to surveillance and control.
